They call me Alaurilee

My photo
I've been writing poetry from the age of 12. It has, and always will be my outlet, my voice. Join me on my journey . . . I can write about almost anything. :) ~ Life doesn't come with a shiny new book; no users manual of answers to find with one look. Life comes with doors that open and shut; and paths laid before us to be followed or passed up. There's things we can learn and things we may teach; hearts that may find us and souls we may reach. Guaranteed on this journey are teacups of tears; and pains that might hurt us may age us by years. But the beauty of life, love, laughter and giving; come from serving hugs on a platter each and every day we're living. ~

Busy Brains and Mental Trains

Flashes of memories bounce through our busy brains.
Reminding us of all our losses and of all our gains.
Taking us on little trips upon these mental trains.
We hear one voice celebrate while another voice complains.

In that which rivals sanity the voices cause us chaos.
Reminding us of troubled times and painful feelings of loss.
Are we the helpless victim or the pushy boss?
Do we allow our family tree to be smothered by pain moss?

Many years and centuries have left us full of condition.
Searching for the answers and demanding some fruition.
Listening to the voices of sin demanding definition;
then using that, which is defined, to defend our every position.

Just because the ego thinks that somehow we are lacking,
doesn't mean we are doomed, so might as well start packing.
Now is the time to let the voices speak without reacting.
The goal to let ourselves simply be, without so much distracting.

Letting go of Ego

For many years now
I've carried baggage in my brain.
Memories, thoughts and feelings
I allowed to cause me pain.

So absorbed with 'what if' thoughts
and lots of over thinking.
Reacting at presumed offenses,
eyes hiding tears behind blinking.

Struggling to hold on to self-worth
and looking for validation.
Rarely letting me just be,
denying thy mental self a vacation.

I searched high and low
for relief from brain pain.
Some days I felt much better
while on others the tears would rain.

Looking for answers in words, looks and people,
basing my value on them.
Oh the power I gave away
while lost in my own search for zen.

Today I proclaim to start to let go,
stop letting thoughts control me.
In the quest for zen, step one has begun
as I stop letting pain define who I'll be.

Fresh Paint

Phto from Google Images

She whispers, oh, so softly
to the man who winks from the moon,
"I need a fresh, new coat of paint
and my soul needs a brand new tune."

She listens as he whispers back,
"Then, my girl, you know what to do.
Dream it big and dream in color.
Then sing your soul into feeling brand new."

She nods her head and winks at the moon
then she starts on her way.
She knows she has lots of dreaming to do,
so she might as well start today.

Tucked in tight she turns out the light
and closes her eyes to dream.
The first thing she sees are spiders
and it almost makes her scream.

In the nick of time she lets it unwind
and the spiders go away.
She tells herself, "This is my dream,
and I'll decide how to play."

She starts to walk in dream land
but her legs are weak and frail.
It puzzles her for a moment,
then in her dreams she starts to sail.

To her delight her arms take flight
and fly her from here to there,
She flies all over the cosmos it seems,
flying about without a care.

The sky is blue and clouds are gray
and she thinks she wants something green.
So she points a finger and thinks it so
and the clouds turn a neon sheen.

For varieties sake she points again,
this cloud yellow, then that, baby blue.
Another in purple and one in pink,
and the river below an orange hue.

That pickup truck she sees in the field,
she turns into candy cane stripes.
And the picket fence that lines the street
in alternating colors and whites.

She handles the color then goes about
finding a tune for her spirit.
Something upbeat and inspiring,
with love and possibility wrapped in it.

The birds in dream land start to sing
and the wind begins to whine.
She joins in with a whistle
and snapping her fingers in time.

She wakes with a smile and feeling fresh,
with a musical tune upon her lips.
She knows today is a brand new day,
she looks confident with swaggering hips.

Deep inside the voice of the moon
whispers a little reminder,
"A new state of mind starts inside
so be prepared to dig in and find her."

"Day dreams or night, its worth the fight
to dream and live in color."
"And finding the light to express your dreams
can't easily come from another."

Genie in a Suit

I put that mask upon my face,
the mask they gave me to wear.
I put it on to hide my reaction,
to make one think I didn't care.

Like a genie dressed up in a suit,
trying to disguise my identity.
not allowed to really be me,
manipulated by life's puppetry.

The little genie inside of me
slowly started to fade away.
Loosing my magic like marbles
lost in a game of careless play.

Just in the nick of a thing called time,
my genie could hide no more.
I ripped off that suit that smothered me
as it was something I'd learned to abhor.

I had put it on and tried to hide
from the many, the few, and me.
I worried too much about what they thought,
so I wouldn't just let myself be.

Before I let myself take off the suit
I couldn't look in the mirror.
The pain I saw behind those eyes
looked dull and lost in fear.

But after, I looked, and saw a spark,
subtle, but yet it still shined.
I'd caught the magic before it dissolved
and before I'd totally lost my mind.

Haiku: Cocoon

to go the distance

Tears in a Teacup

Sometimes our teacup overflows . . .
the tears become too much.
But we just keep on trucking . . .
because the hugs, they mean so much.

Haiku: Scars Heal

the scars heal slowly
bleeding tears from broken hearts
yet our hearts beat on

Haiku: Rejuvenation

lazy day of rest
soothes the weary worker bee
rejuvenation

Haiku: On the Edge

life is a mountain
tending my post, eyes open
on the edge of now

Haiku: Lily

sweet lily hidden
behind the strapping tree grove
nature is heaven

Haiku: The Wonder of Life

the wonder of life
lingers in every drop
water, sand and air

Haiku: Melancholy Mist

melancholy mist
in awe of the way you float
somber yet serene

haiku: Lightening Bug of Love

under skin I feel
desire builds within me
lightning bug of love

Haiku: Crystalline Dreams

traveling the path
of crystalline dreams of hope
long live love and life

A Special Request: Vote for my small Biz for a Vistprint package

EDIT: My post was too late....voting is closed.... :(

I have entered a contest through Vistaprint for $10,000 business package.

This could really help me extend the reach of my current audience as well as give me the means to reach them.

Help me touch peoples lives....vote for me at:
http://www.1-800-vistaprint.com/contest/Alaurilee-Productions

Here's my submission:

Here's Why Alaurilee Productions Should Win

Why should you be selected as the winner?

I started Alaurilee Productions when I quit my corporate day job doing accounting in early 2010; to help my Father-in-law with my Mother-in-law who has Multiple Sclerosis; to help my husband who has Crohns Disease; and to pursue a new career doing what I love; writing, publishing poetry, publishing children's books and creating personalized magic in the form of gift products to touch the hearts of my clients and their recipients. After writing poetry for years I gathered a collection that I worked into my first book. I'm in the process of self-publishing that now. I also started creating custom poetry framed/shadowbox projects for weddings, births, deaths/memorials, anniversaries, graduations and other celebrations. I also make personalized Christmas Ornaments. I have dreamed of and practiced touching peoples lives my whole life. I need to go big with it now so that I may bring home my husband who travels for business. His Chronic Crohns disease is slowly eating away at him. The airplane stress & work stress are too much for his body. I hope you choose me and give me the chance to go big for my customers and my family and to help me touch peoples lives in a big way.

How do you impress your customers?

I impress my customers by taking their feelings and thoughts about something or someone and making poetry magic with it and touching their hearts. I create gifts that are priceless. I reach into their hearts and speak the language of their soul. And I help them share that with the ones who mean something to them. If the end of my life comes and I know I have touched someone in a profound way, or help them touch someone, then my job in life is complete. Until then I will work hard to continue dreaming big and working towards my goal to make my dreams a reality. My brand is "Serving Hugs on a Platter and Tears in a Teacup". Quite simply that means: Life hands you tears...always serve more hugs than tears. No matter what hardship life hands us, a smile and a hug go a long way in making things better.

How do you plan to use the prize package if you win?

I would use this package to promote my brand new baby business and to help me reach a larger market. My father died last year. During the last few months of his life due to health reasons, my Dad’s reality varied between the past, the present and the future. This is common for people near the end. I was blessed to spend time with him then. During one such moment he was describing to me how he and his wife had been on a recent trip and stumbled across a book in a store. He told me it was my book and he was so proud of me. That he knew I'd write a book someday. He was clearly seeing the future, as this book was not even ready to be published yet. He was also speaking from the heart of a Daddy who had faith in his daughter When my father died last year, I inherited enough to start to use my creativity to do something special with my life. Not much left to even afford to purchase items from your company although I'd love to. I'm now down to a wing and a prayer and lots of work and effort. Please pick me and allow me this opportunity to touch the lives of my customers in a big way.

What else should we know about your business?

My brand is "Serving Hugs on a Platter and Tears in a Teacup". Quite simply that means: Life hands you tears...always serve more hugs than tears. No matter what hardship life hands us, a smile and a hug go a long way in making things better. My company is active in being a Cancer warrior. Praying and supporting those who are fighting for their lives. This past year I participated in Cards4Cancer and helped make and distribute 250 cards using a custom poem I wrote and my brand. I would love to have my custom cards printed and distributed to help support those who need it. I have 1 book being published right now and am in the process of writing 3 children's books. I even purchased the software to create my own illustrations. I really would love the opportunity to share my dream with the world. Thank you for considering my company.

The Magic of Love

Cheers and champagne, and love for these two.
Memories of moments of how their love grew.
Each on their own, had struggles, that's true . . .
they searched for some peace and something brand new.

One day their paths crossed and they felt fate smile,
they heard pirates rejoice as the fairies went wild.
The universe knew that these two were in need;
it had heard their hearts whisper and listened, indeed!

The magic of love brought together two hearts
and in their souls, they felt passionate sparks.
Someone to rejoice with when life makes you grin,
someone to hold on to when life wears you thin.

Not only these two, but a family as well . . .
were joined by their love and this story I tell.
They each had their children, from a life before,
they've now come together, a family to adore.

Nothing is purer than love in this life.
Now joined together as husband and wife.
Together, forever, through pain and passion.
These two hearts rejoice in a spiritual fashion.

Stronger and wiser, joined as a whole.
They proudly celebrate, each unique soul.
Breathing new life and love into each other,
and into their children as father and mother.

Blessings abound in the hearts of these two.
Each little moment feels beautifully new.
Celebrating family and celebrating laughter.
Celebrating together . . . forever after.

A Celebration poem for the wedding of my friends LuAnne and Robert,
who were joined together in uniqueness and love on April Fools Day - April 1st, 2010.

Not fools, but fabulous souls who celebrate life in living color.
