They call me Alaurilee

My photo
I've been writing poetry from the age of 12. It has, and always will be my outlet, my voice. Join me on my journey . . . I can write about almost anything. :) ~ Life doesn't come with a shiny new book; no users manual of answers to find with one look. Life comes with doors that open and shut; and paths laid before us to be followed or passed up. There's things we can learn and things we may teach; hearts that may find us and souls we may reach. Guaranteed on this journey are teacups of tears; and pains that might hurt us may age us by years. But the beauty of life, love, laughter and giving; come from serving hugs on a platter each and every day we're living. ~

"A Friend Indeed"

She looked into the eyes of a friend
and quietly said, "I'll be okay."
"I'll let you know if I need you",
then slowly walked away.

Her friend looked on for only a moment
then quickly followed to catch right up.
Those words might have said one thing,
but her spirit said she was a lonesome pup.

She tapped the shoulder of her friend
and her friend slowly turned around.
She saw tears welling up in her eyes
then her voice made a sobbing sound.

She grabbed on tight as they embraced
she asked her friend, "How did you know?"
"Your words may have said one thing."
she answered, "But I heard the truth from your soul."

A friend may say, "I'll be there for you."
"Just let me know if you need me."
But a true friend won't take no,
for she knows where she needs to be.

She'll hold your hand and let you cry
then wipe your tears away.
She'll feel just when you need her
and she'll make the choice to stay.

"One foot in front of the other"

Action equals consequence . . .
inaction does as well.
Whether successful or detrimental,
only time will tell.

You can sit on the floor 'Indian style',
crossing your arms to wait;
longing for all that you don't have,
waiting for life to hand you a plate.

But sometimes doing nothing at all
is merely standing still.
It puts nothing at all into motion
leaving fate to choose as it will.

Better yet to pick yourself up,
dust it all off and take a step;
one foot in front of the other
leading yourself to where you'll get.

Take action for your own life,
have courage to walk and walk.
Don't be scared to speak for yourself
and remember to talk the talk.

"His Soul Was Here"

        In Memory of Eric Smith RIP 2010

Something totally spiritual
occurred in my life today.
It left me feeling electric
almost taking my breath away.

The hearts of two kind souls
came to the aid of another;
coming to her in her time of need,
holding her like a mother.

With love and caring comfort
they held her as she sobbed,
and gently washed her tears
as she lamented how she felt robbed.

These two who came to hold her,
one was near and one was away;
they came together spiritually . . .
to be in this place - for this girl today.

She'd recently lost a love so true,
her heart was aching so much.
She felt so lonely inside,
and longed for his tender touch.

The two kind souls, they channeled . . .
and the soul of her man arrived;
through these two he touched her.
in the way he did while he was alive.

A gentle touch on the small of her back,
soothing her through her pain and fear;
and she knew at that very moment
his body was gone but his soul was here.

"Be a Voice"

The nature of living can make us nuts;
they say crazy's become the new black.
The truth is you're not alone,
share your story and where you're at.

The trials and tribulations of life
can sometimes leave us quite numb.
When we're feeling alone and overwhelmed,
it truly helps to have someone.

Being a voice and having a voice,
stopping to listen as well;
sharing the struggles you've been through
and the ways that you prevail.

Having the courage to speak;
communication is the key.
When we educate with our story,
it starts to set our pain free.

To empathize with our own words
and give unconditional love;
we become such an inspiration,
like a beautiful soaring white dove.

"Okay to Love You"

She hated to get her hopes up,
not again - it hurt too bad;
the excitement then disappointment
left her alone and feeling sad.

She wanted to have faith in love,
to believe in the possibility;
she wanted to embrace this chance
but she remembered a past reality.

She waited for that phone to ring
then let it ring a time or two;
she couldn't be too anxious,
to him it might show through.

She heard his voice and felt a spark
but still proceeded cautiously,
she knew that too much eagerness
could scare this chance away.

She thought the call went rather well
and even felt that spark ignite,
but when the call was over
she tucked away her feelings tight.

She heard a voice soon after
it took her breath away;
she'd never heard Gods voice before . . .
She heard him say, "This is okay."

She heard his voice so calmly say,
"It's okay to be excited . . .
This is the man for the rest of your life,
your hearts shall be united."

She heard his voice so softly say,
"Feel his love and let it grow.
Then give it back generously . . .
for he loves you for your soul."

Jess told me a personal story that accompanied the above personal quote:
~~~~~~~~~~
Jess had heard a voice of calm & peacefulness right after she talked to Eric (her husband) for the first time on the phone. She was dead set on not getting her hopes up but she believed God's voice told her, "No! It's okay this time. Be excited! This is the rest of your life.
"Generations of Love"
     Photo: My mom, my sister and my nieces
A mother gently kisses
the newborn baby in her lap,
looks up into her mothers eyes
and marvels at this place she's at.
A grandmother so lovingly
smiles at this baby girl,
a gift from her own daughter-
giving motherhood a whirl.
A daddy gazes with such pride
at his handsome newborn son;
his father watches from near by-
as proud as anyone.
A grandfather - he marvels
at his sons shining eyes,
his soul is touched by so much love,
he quietly utters happy sighs.
Generations of such love
so evident for all to see;
the bond of love and family
making such sweet history.
"Unallowed Love"
 Picture above from google images www.sodahead.com
My love for you consumes me,
eating little pieces of my soul;
I feel it burn and fester
when I'd rather watch it grow.
I long for so much more than this,
but life and pain get in our way.
I crave to kiss your sweet lips,
but alas i can't - not today.
This love of ours is not allowed-
it isn't written in the books;
I'd like to pencil it in somewhere,
latch on to it with loving hooks.
But alas, as fate would have it,
some things aren't always meant to be;
I'll tuck away these feelings
as little scars inside of me.
Reminders of what could have been
had our love been allowed;
and in my heart of hearts
I'll feel this love and own it proud.
