They call me Alaurilee

I've been writing poetry from the age of 12. It has, and always will be my outlet, my voice. Join me on my journey . . . I can write about almost anything. :) ~ Life doesn't come with a shiny new book; no users manual of answers to find with one look. Life comes with doors that open and shut; and paths laid before us to be followed or passed up. There's things we can learn and things we may teach; hearts that may find us and souls we may reach. Guaranteed on this journey are teacups of tears; and pains that might hurt us may age us by years. But the beauty of life, love, laughter and giving; come from serving hugs on a platter each and every day we're living. ~

"A Friend Indeed"

She looked into the eyes of a friend
and quietly said, "I'll be okay."
"I'll let you know if I need you",
then slowly walked away.

Her friend looked on for only a moment
then quickly followed to catch right up.
Those words might have said one thing,
but her spirit said she was a lonesome pup.

She tapped the shoulder of her friend
and her friend slowly turned around.
She saw tears welling up in her eyes
then her voice made a sobbing sound.

She grabbed on tight as they embraced
she asked her friend, "How did you know?"
"Your words may have said one thing."
she answered, "But I heard the truth from your soul."

A friend may say, "I'll be there for you."
"Just let me know if you need me."
But a true friend won't take no,
for she knows where she needs to be.

She'll hold your hand and let you cry
then wipe your tears away.
She'll feel just when you need her
and she'll make the choice to stay.

"A friend will say she'll be there for you if you need her. A true friend won't take no for an answer"

  1. Thank you so much! This quote meant so much to me. I recently went through the most difficult time of my life. My best friend said she would be there if I needed her. All I asked was that she listen to me and hold my hand. I asked for 6 months and it never happened. The poem you write is how it SHOULD have happened.
