My life didn't flash before my eyes,
instead I saw my future.
Not only people and things-but also dreams.
Trying to give some comfort,
to a sad soul in dire need;
While driving and I lost sight of things.
'Temporary Home' was playing,
Carrie Underwood on the cd.
We two sung along to feel just a little bit good.
She held my hand so softly,
I steered the car into a turn;
then painfully I saw and understood.
Just mere moments prior,
I tried to sooth her tears;
reminding her that God held her hand.
The devil couldn't beat her,
we must not ever let him;
She seemed to truly understand.
Closed her weary eyes,
sung along with me,
Leaned her tired head against the window.
A blessed feeling of peace,
Calmness all around,
And then I turned and didn't want to know.
I saw a flash of white,
and then there was a crash;
I knew then this mistake of mine was big.
Things began to settle,
My friend was trapped inside.
Sirens shreeked from that fire rig.
Soon they cut the door off,
and safely rescued her out;
then put her in an ambulance to the ER.
But blessing even now,
thankful to the core,
just bruises and sprains not even a scar.
The other driver faired as well,
No injuries severe,
Just her shaken body slightly bruised and sore.
I hate that I'd lost sight,
in trying to save and comfort,
then almost lost that someone I care for.
Three bodies safe and sound,
No real damage to be seen;
just two poor car bodies mangled.
Still the flashbacks come,
they take my breath away;
Leaving my emotions all so tangled.
Another lesson to learn,
a new gray hair or two,
and lots of blessing to be thankful for.
The most important thing to me,
three ladies safe and sound.
After a near tragedy-I couldn't ask for more.

- Serving Hugs on a Platter and Tears in a Teacup
- I've been writing poetry from the age of 12. It has, and always will be my outlet, my voice. Join me on my journey . . . I can write about almost anything. :) ~ Life doesn't come with a shiny new book; no users manual of answers to find with one look. Life comes with doors that open and shut; and paths laid before us to be followed or passed up. There's things we can learn and things we may teach; hearts that may find us and souls we may reach. Guaranteed on this journey are teacups of tears; and pains that might hurt us may age us by years. But the beauty of life, love, laughter and giving; come from serving hugs on a platter each and every day we're living. ~
